BOTOX® Cosmetic / Fillers
A combination of BOTOX® Cosmetic and Filler injections has become the most popular procedure today for cosmetic enhancement. These treatments are non or minimally invasive and because the materials are nonreactive or non-allergic there are very few side effects.
BOTOX® Cosmetic and other neurotoxins like Dysport® work by reducing the contractions of the muscles that cause those persistent frown lines and creases that have developed over time. They are injected into the skin to treat mild to severe frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet lines, drooping corners of the mouth, lip lines and neck folds. BOTOX® injections are also most useful in alleviating sweating under the arms and in the hands. With one simple, 10-minute treatment, results can be seen within a couple of days and can last for up to four months (individual results will vary). There is no recovery time. Many patients have the treatment performed on their lunch hour. After treatment you may experience some redness or swelling.
Restylane® is a natural cosmetic filler. It is injected directly into the skin in tiny or larger amounts by an ultra-fine needle. Restylane is also very effective in reducing the sunken look under and around the eyes, also helping to camouflage puffiness under the eyelids.
Discomfort may be minimal if a topical anesthesia or intra oral block is used. Restylane® softens wrinkles and restores volume and fullness to the skin. Patients with mild to severe facial wrinkles and folds should consider Restylane® injections. The effects generally last for about 6 months (individual results will vary). After treatment, patients may experience some redness or swelling.
Radiesse® is a newer calcium hydroxylapatite that was designed with durability, longevity and versatility in mind. Radiesse® is effective in treating a variety of conditions such as smile and frown lines, sunken cheeks and jowls, as well having a significant effect in the recontouring of the face. In facial applications, Radiesse® should provide a correction that lasts around one year (with an occasional touchup). Individual results will vary. After treatment you may experience some redness and swelling.
Sculptra® is used to treat facial lipoatrophy which is the loss of fat beneath the skin, which can result in sunken cheeks, indentations, and hollow eyes. Sculptra® is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. It provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. The photos below show the effects after just three treatments.
Sculptra® injections have been popularized over the last year since gaining FDA approval. Besides achieving a gradual and lasting improvement in facial rejuvenation with fullness in the cheeks, and softening of the folds and lines. This product can also be useful for significantly reducing crepiness on the chest wall around the belly button and the tops of the hands.
JUVÉDERM® is a hyaluronic acid product that is gaining in popularity, it is used in the same fashion as Restylane® and produces similar results. The goal of treatments like JUVÉDERM® Injections is to gain a more youthful appearance without having more invasive or surgical procedures.
