Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery)
Rhinoplasty, the reshaping of the cartilage, bone and soft tissues of the nose to produce a natural shape, is one of the most common of all plastic surgery procedures. During a rhinoplasty, Dr. Miller can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip.
The Procedure - A rhinoplasty typically takes about two hours. Dr. Miller will separate the skin of the nose from the supporting bone and cartilage which is then sculpted to the desired shape. The skin is then redraped over the new framework.
A rhinoplasty can be performed from within the nostrils of the nose or by making a small incision across the columella, the vertical strip of tissue that separates the nostrils.
Recovery (What To Expect) A small fiberglass splint is applied to the nose for the first week. Most of the swelling and bruising should disappear within two weeks and most rhinoplasty patients are up and about within two days of surgery. Almost all patients are able to return to work or school after just one week.
