Boston Breast Lift - Brookline Mastopexy
Breast Lift is the surgical raising and reshaping of the breasts to improve their appearance which may have been adversely affected by pregnancy, nursing and simple gravity. As the skin loses its elasticity, the breasts often begin to sag and a breast lift can help counter these effects.
The Procedure – Breast lifts are usually performed under a local anesthetic with intravenous sedation and take approximately 3 hours for both breasts. There are many techniques available, but Dr. Miller commonly uses a crescent-shaped incision that follows the natural contour of the breast. The incision defines the area from which breast skin will be removed and determines the new location of the nipple. Dr. Miller will remove the excess skin and moves the nipple and areola up to the higher position. The skin around the areola is then trimmed and drawn together to reshape the breast. Other incision patterns may be more suitable for your treatment and Dr. Miller will discuss your alternatives. Often times patients will have an implant inserted along with their breast lift to increase their size, which is placed in a pocket directly under the breast tissue, or deeper under the muscle of the chest wall.
Recovery (What To Expect) Most patients are up and about in a day or two, but do not return to work for a week or more. Patients will need to wear a special support bra around the clock for three to four weeks.
